To know the Swinging Skirts Golf Foundation, one must first understand that it originated from the Swinging Skirts Golf Team. When founding the team, chairman Johnson Wang wanted to pay respect to women and break traditions, hence he set a unique dress code: all women are required to wear colorful skirts, while all men are required to wear kilts, giving the green golf course a special touch of brightness.
In contrast to the traditional idea of White is Purity, the team sought a more golden wheat-color, which displays a more healthy and vigorous look. It is a team that is filled with joyfulness, which wishes to give all the members the best experience every time they host a tournament. Besides increasing social interaction, the tournaments also had the purpose of enhancing the social image and value of golf.
With this purpose in mind, the team soon turned into the non-profit Swinging Skirts Golf Foundation, which aimed to continuously promote women's golf. In 2011, the Foundation hosted a LPGA Invitational tournament for the first time, placing particular emphasis in the course design, which displayed Taiwanese uniqueness in various ways. The Swinging Skirts Foundation also publicly sponsors the TLPGA, wishing to help Taiwanese female golfers to achieve greater goals.
